Sandra is a fully-qualified Counselling Psychologist. She has over 7 years of experience working in the NHS with clients with complex needs, as well as experience in online therapy.
Sandra has worked with a wide age range of clients, from adolescents to the elderly, with many individuals presenting with complex needs, a myriad of psychological and emotional issues, such as bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and addictions. Sandra also has experience working with couples and families within her clinical practice, as well as individuals.
Sandra decided to become a Counselling Psychologist due to her deep desire to assist people in achieving their full potential. Growing up in Spain (although fluent in English), she appreciates what it may feel like to struggle to ‘fit in’, and how this can prevent individuals from enjoying fulfilling relationships, feeling valued, and possessing high self-esteem.
Sandra is, therefore, determined to help people feel as though they belong in any social situation and have equal value in any relationship – whether that be at work, romantically, or within a social group. Sandra is keen to see individuals achieve ‘self-actualisation’ – being the best, most contented version of themselves – and is driven to champion the human spirit and empower people to engage in continual self-improvement.
Sandra has an interest in mindfulness and meditation and is passionate about helping clients feel a sense of ‘oneness’ with themselves so they are aware of their own consciousness, perceptions and value can truly be ‘present’ and are able to work optimistically towards achieving well-being.
Sandra will first assess your situation, feelings and needs, and may invite you to ask partners/caregivers/family members to an assessment appointment, as this has been found to be helpful in some cases (for instance, those experiencing psychosis).
Sandra will help empower you to engage in an open dialogue about your wishes for the future, your life values, and the emotional, psychological and behavioural struggles/difficulties you may be facing that might not be in accordance with these wishes and values.
She will collaborate with you to devise strategies of overcoming these challenges, not simply through words, but through setting goals and creating action plans, that are tailored to your particular needs.
The length of treatment varies depending on the individual; for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a course of 6-12 sessions is usually recommended, although more complex cases can require long-term treatment of up to 6 months. However, therapy treatment courses can be reviewed by yourself and Sandra in a collaborative nature to ensure you are receiving the best care possible.
Sandra has witnessed life-changing outcomes as a result of her treatment sessions. She has honed her research skills and is therefore continually incorporating up-to-date psychology research recommendations into her clinical practice.
She has completed her doctoral thesis on Virtual Gaming Addiction and has a special interest in a variety of addictions (Gambling, Substance Abuse, Gaming etc), as well as Depression, generalized anxiety Disorders, Psychosis, OCD, Relationship difficulties, Insomnia and Sleeping Problems, Phobias, Self-Esteem and Confidence Problems and Eating Disorders.
Sandra is an open, warm individual that strives to create an authentic connection with each client. She is fluent in various languages, and can, therefore, provide face to face or online psychological therapy in English, German, Spanish and basic French.
Online Therapy & Counseling Services
At Online Therapy Company we offer a variety of therapeutic services for individuals, couples, families and groups. While most of our therapists draw on a range of approaches in their work, we specialize in:
- Psychodynamic psychotherapy: helping uncover blind spots in order to identify and confront the hidden sources of difficulties
- Relational psychotherapy: working to attain insight and develop better, healthier ways of relating to oneself and others through a focus on the client/therapist relationship
We also draw extensively on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and coaching techniques and offer telephone and video support in addition to in-person counselling.
In some cases, clients find it helpful to engage in multiple types of counselling and coaching; other clients may progress from one form of therapy to another as their needs and goals evolve.
Please contact us if you have questions about which form of counselling might be most effective for you, or would like to learn more about how and where to get started with online therapy in London.
