Avni is an assistant neuropsychologist at Online Therapy Clinic. She has experience with working in hospitals under the supervision of neurologists to carry out neuropsychological tests such as the MMSE and the MOCA. The patients she works within hospitals are diagnosed with multifaceted conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), autoimmune encephalitis and tumour conditions such as glioblastoma multiforme. She is assisting in formulating a care plan to address the psychiatric and psychological needs of patients with neurological disorders.

Avni’s first language is English but is fluent in Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi and can understand other regional languages such as Urdu and Bengali.

Avni has recently completed her thesis on the therapeutic benefits of deep brain stimulation surgery for obsessive-compulsive disorder and its psychological comorbidities.

Avni conducts triage phone calls from patients to be able to allocate them to the best care provider, as well as training under clinicians of various specialists to expand her knowledge and understanding. She aspires to enrol on the Clinical Doctoral program in the near future to practice as a Neuropsychologists. She understands that patients with neurological conditions are often neglected and their psychological needs are rarely addressed. It is, for this reason, she is keen to focus on this niche area and provide the very best evidence-based psychological therapy to this patient group.
